Sichenia at Fuorisalone 2025: inspirations, materials and future visions

Milan Design Week 2025 once again confirmed its central role in the international design scene. Between spectacular installations and premiere collections, the strongest trends that emerged at Fuorisalone see an increasing contamination between fashion and interior design. Furniture reflected soft shapes and runway silhouettes, with generous curves, bold colors, transparencies, glossy surfaces, and a clear reference to retro design from the 1960s and 1970s.

Curved forms are everywhere, the absolute protagonists in all areas of the home: living, dining and sleeping areas. Often asymmetrical, sinuous and enveloping, they give rooms a feeling of comfort and movement. Yet, the cube does not disappear: it too returns strongly in many collections, becoming a graphic, modular and solid element, contrasting with the more fluid lines.

Color palettes range from lavender to plum, from intense greens and lime to mustard and burgundy, not forgetting the universe of blues, oranges and deep reds. Blues, in particular, come in a wide range of shades: from the more muted and serene tones of light blue, which convey freshness and tranquility, to the most intense and deepest blues, passing through powder blue and midnight blue. Alongside these, bolder shades also emerge, such as electric blue, which adds a touch of energy and modernity, bringing an incredible visual charge to any room. Blue proves to be a versatile presence, capable of adapting to classic and contemporary styles, creating dynamic and sophisticated environments.

These bold hues are complemented by neutral shades, which remain undisputed protagonists: classics such as white, beige and butter white, but also the timeless powder pink and sage green. Natural earth tones also stand out – brown, cappuccino, terracotta, brick, coffee, tobacco and camel – perfect for warm, sophisticated and timeless environments.

The most iconic contrast also returns strongly: black and white, chosen in a contemporary key for graphic furnishings, minimal environments and geometric patterns. A timeless pair that crosses the catwalks and is reflected in interiors with elegance and character, between visual rigor and great versatility.

Next to color, glass stands out as an expressive and textural material, declined in different finishes or with rippled surfaces. Glass colors itself, becomes architecture, gives light. Its closest relative, methacrylate, becomes rainbow.

Woods are warming up and returning to prominence with visible grains and enveloping tones. Oak remains a great, indispensable classic, but the appeal of warm walnut is making more and more room, along with more decisive and dramatic essences such as black wood, for interiors with an intense, elegant and contemporary character. Wood surfaces become true decorative elements, capable of conveying authenticity and materiality in any environment.

Great attention is also paid to glossy lacquer finishes, which are ideal for emphasizing pure volumes and transforming functional elements into decorative protagonists.

There is no shortage of metal returning to the scene, especially mirrored, giving brightness and a sophisticated and original touch to rooms.

In this edition, it is clear how nature meets design: authentic materials, textural textures and organic finishes dialogue with contemporary lines, resulting in welcoming and sensory spaces.

Leading the way is definitely travertine, seen in numerous collections not only in classic beige, but also in white and gray variants, which make it current and versatile. But it is not the only one: the world of marble continues to fascinate with matt surfaces, offered in the trendiest tones such as red and green, capable of transforming even the most minimal of environments into a dramatic space full of personality. Will travertine become a phenomenon? We are rooting for it!
